Glossary of Common Terms

  • Plus-Size -- (1) any clothing size larger than the sizes produced by mainstream clothing manufacturers, typically starting at 3XL for tops and 50" waist pants but sometimes as low as 2XL or 46" waist. (2) an adjective to describe an individual who wears plus-size clothing, i.e., "a plus-size man".
  • Straight Size -- A mass-produced size that is easily found at most clothing retailers.
